Afua (girl born on a Friday in the Akan culture) was born to a Xhosa mother and Ghanaian father in South Africa.
Afua Organics was founded from a passion I have for natural hair as I have previously worked as a hairdresser. The venture started when I returned natural in 2016. I struggled to find organic hair products that worked well for my natural hair and skin. Upon my plight of researching about my roots and returning natural I discovered some gems which are indigenous to the African continent.
The West Africa is well-known for its production of Shea Butter and African Black Soap. I was inspired by these natural resources and found a formula that worked well for my natural hair and skin.
People noticed my hair growth and glowing skin and began to enquire about my handcrafted growth oil and butter. In 2017, I decided to start selling to my colleagues and the rest is history.
